iVox Communications, which claims to be Australia's first carrier grade VoIP wholesaler, has announced plans to co-locate its national VoIP network infrastructure at Global Switch's Sydney data centre.

iVox's IP telephony infrastructure is built around a nationwide TDM telephony backhaul network, with presence in all 66 Australian call zones and a nationwide MPLS data network. "This backbone, coupled with iVox's carrier-class softswitches, has been engineered to deliver voice call quality equal to if not better than a standards POTS line," the company claims.

By co-locating in Global Switch's carrier neutral Sydney facility, iVox says it is able to supplement its existing network with interconnects to up to 10 national and international carriers.
