Ryan O'Hare, one of the co-founders and the CEO of listed telco, People Telecom, has decided not to renew his current contract which expires on 30 June 2006. He will remain a director and significant shareholder in the company.

Global recruitment firm, Spencer Stuart has been retained to search for a replacement.

O'Hare along with Colin Marland launched People Telecom in 2000 with backing from a diverse range of shareholders: F2, Village Online Investments, Uecomm (19 percent), Ron Walker (chairman), Barry Hamilton, the Lowy family, Margaret Jackson (deputy chair), Brian Powers and Bernie Eccleston.

The company achieved a backdoor listing in early 2004 through a merger with listed telco, Swiftel and in 2005 achieved revenue in excess of $100 million and double digit growth.

People Telecom is  O'Hare's and Marland's second successful foray into telecoms. In the mid 90s the two set up Corptel, which grew to be one of the most successful telephony service resellers of the duopoly era before being sold to AAPT.
