3 mobile has launched EyeCam, a new mobile camera device that enables users to make a 3G video call to a camera unit at home or in an office, and remotely monitor the premises with both vision and sound.

EyeCam is being marketed as an affordable device that can be used to keep an eye on your home while you’re at work or on holidays, check what your pets are getting up to without you, or see that your babysitter has everything under control.

Up to 20 users can call EyeCam to remotely monitor the action.

“EyeCam is the first of its kind for 3G, and 3 mobile is pleased to be the first in Australia to launch such a unique product.  Our customers are tech savvy and interested in new ways to communicate, and EyeCam is also perfect for those that need an affordable way to keep an eye on their home or small business when they are away,” said Scott Taylor, 3’s Head of Content and Services.

The EyeCam service is available when the EyeCam unit and caller are in 3’s broadband zones - available in most parts of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast.
