Threatened strike action at Telstra over a pay dispute has been called off, with the Unions saying negotiations with the company had produced “some positive indications.”

In a statement to members posted today, the CEPU Communications Division said the industrial action that was scheduled for today had been temporarily suspended.

"Both the Telstra Management and the CEPU Divisional Executive are still considering the current position," the statement said.

The Union said negotiations with Telstra "have now reached a very complex and delicate stage" and that "it is fair to say some positive indications from Telstra in relation to some (but not all) issues that remain in dispute."

The dispute has resulted from negotiations over the enterprise bargaining agreement with Telstra.

"The situation with the Telstra EBA is extremely fluid at the moment with neither side in a position to confirm details until they refer some contentious issues to their respective principals," the CEPU statement said.

"Negotiations with Telstra will continue with a view to progressing towards a draft agreement that can be discussed with members."
