The Australian distributor of AVG security software took the number eight spot on this year's Fast 100 list of rapidly growing SMEs.

BRW's annual Fast 100 list identifies which of Australia's SMEs have shown the fastest revenue growth over the previous three years.

The 2009 Fast 100, revealed last week, puts AVG (AU/NZ) in eighth position. The Australian owned company distributes AVG's products, and is part of the Avalanche Technology Group which also distributes the Carbonite backup product.

According to managing director Peter Cameron, the company's revenue has grown by an average of 137% over the last three years.

"AVG (AU/NZ) counts one in every eight Australians as a customer so our place at number eight on the BRW Fast 100 list is a neat coincidence," he said.

That claim presumably includes users of the free version of AVG.

"I trust we'll be able to keep moving towards number one ranking over the next couple of years," Cameron added.

Earlier this year, the company was number 15 in BRW's Fast Starters 2009 list, after coming 48th in the 2008 edition. It also won the Computer Troubleshooters' Vendor of the Year award in 2008 and 2009.
