Optus has launched a number of new contract wireless broadband plans that offer almost twice the data quota of current plans, but for the first year only.Featured Whitepaper

Jeremiah de la Cruz, general manager of Optus Consumer Products, suggested that: "After the initial 12 month contract term...customers will have a better understanding of how much data they really need and will be able to freely choose the best plan available at the end of 12 months." Optus has also reduced the price of above-quota data from 15 cents per MB to 6 cents across the board. Optus says it has also reduced modem costs. The Huawei E160 USB 3.6Mbps modem now costs $99, the Huaw E1762 $149 and the Huawei E960 multiuser WLAN/ethernet modem gateway $199.
