Open Text Records Management Certified to Stringent Victorian Electronic Records Strategy Standard
Thursday, 15 October 2009
Sydney, October 2009 - Open Text™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that its Open Text Records Management, a core component of its ECM Suite, has achieved full compliance with one of Australia's most exacting records management standards, VERS (Victorian Electronic Records Strategy).
VERS was developed by Public Record Office Victoria to ensure long-term management and preservation of the state's electronic records. It lays down a framework of standards, guidance, training, consultancy and implementation projects, and has been adopted as a best practice records management standard both locally and internationally.
As part of its ECM Suite, Open Text offers numerous solutions such as CLM Services for Microsoft SharePoint, Extended ECM for SAP Solutions, and Social Media which have tight integrations to Open Text Records Management. By ensuring compliance with industry standards such as VERS, US DoD 5015.2, UK PRO/TNA, MoReq, ISO 15489, Open Text brings versatile, compliant records management capabilities to applications like SharePoint, SAP and Social Media.
Mike Hooper, Director of ECM Solutions for Asia Pacific and Japan, Open Text, said “Organisations have many record generating applications and in some cases must operate internationally and comply with multiple record keeping standards. A records management solution that complies with all necessary jurisdictions and also works with the leading record generating applications provides the greatest flexibility for an Enterprise Wide solution.”
Hooper added, “Forward looking organisations are seeking solutions that go beyond siloed vendor offerings. These organisations understand the importance of developing a single records management strategy and being able to apply this to information regardless of where it was authored in the organisation. Open Text Records Management allows customers to achieve this and benefit from the significant advantages and efficiencies it delivers.”
Open Text CLM Services for SharePoint enables customers to capture content generated in SharePoint and to ensure that records management policies developed for the enterprise can be extended to include content authored in SharePoint, allowing customers to take advantage of the intuitive content authoring and collaboration features of SharePoint without compromising their regulatory compliance or ability to respond to litigation.
Open Text Extended ECM for SAP Solutions enables customers to extend their use of Open Text’s market leading Document Access for SAP Solution, by providing tight integration to its complete ECM application. Hooper said, “This allows our SAP customers to apply enterprise records management policies and classifications directly from within SAP applications, and ensure these are consistent with the rest of the business.”
Open Text Social Media allows customers to implement consumer-orientated social media technologies such as Wiki’s, Blogs, Social Search, etc. and stay in control of their content. Hooper added “Traditional email is ill-suited toward supporting employees working in a social or collaborative manner; users are looking for more efficient ways to access people and content. Open Text Social Media enables organisations to benefit from these new ways of working securely and within the overall context of the organisation's records and content management strategy."
