Apple has updated its iMovie consumer video editing program, largely to improve compatibility with newer devices.

iMovie 8.0.5 is an update to the video editing program that is a component of Apple's iLife 09 suite.

According to Apple officials, the update improves overall stability, compatibility with camcorders using the iFrame video format, and compatibility with video recorded on the iPod nano.

It is also said to fix a number of minor issues, including problems with resizing the iMovie window during playback.

Apple recommends the update to all users of iMovie 09.

The 36M update is available via Software Update or Apple's Support Downloads page.

In related news, Apple this week released an update for Logic Pro, the core program in its Logic Studio suite of audio applications. Logic Pro 9.0.2 "improves overall stability and provides numerous fixes and enhancements", according to Apple officials.
