Apparently, the issue arises when a Mac user logs into the Snow Leopard Guest account, then tries to log back into a regular account. They can be met with a completely empty account. Unless they have a backup, the data is gone. The problem may be related to having the Guest account enabled in Leopard before upgrading to Snow Leopard, and reports are that disabling the account in Snow Leopard and then re-enabling it may prevent the problem. In any event, it appears that Apple is on the case. The company sent a statement to several tech blogs today saying, "We are aware of the issue, which occurs only in extremely rare cases, and we are working on a fix." |
