The partnership follows a successful three-year relationship between the two companies. During this time, Gen-i has used NetIQ AppManager to monitor voice and data networks for a number of its clients, including a bank with 300 branches throughout Australia and New Zealand. We’re thrilled to formalise the partnership and continue raising the profile of VoIP and UC technologies together across the region.” Gen-i has built an in-house infrastructure consisting of twenty virtual servers that currently hosts NetIQ managed services for clients. Using NetIQ AppManager for VoIP, NetIQ AppManager for RIM BlackBerry Enterprise Server and NetIQ Analysis Centre, Gen-i monitors a range of IP Telephony networks along with mobile devices under its Managed Blackberry Service. The company expects to expand its managed service capability into the UC space in the near future. Gen-i’s Head of Integrated Systems Business, Selwyn Rimmer, says as a leading provider of integrated ICT solutions to businesses across Australasia, becoming a NetIQ MSP enhances Gen-i’s ability to more effectively meet the individual needs and different requirements of its voice application clients. “Organisations now have infrastructures that are comprised of solutions and products from multiple vendors all working together. The NetIQ solution improves our ability to monitor these complex infrastructures more efficiently. “The flexibility of the NetIQ solution is great as it allows us to monitor IP Telephony networks from all the major players including Cisco, Nortel and Microsoft. We get deep visibility into client networks, which allow us to resolve issues efficiently, often before the client is even aware of them. In addition, NetIQ solutions are very intuitive, which is great for training new people and managing our internal costs,” said Rimmer. The NetIQ AppManager Suite delivers comprehensive systems management, including monitoring, reporting and analysis, diagnostics and resolution of telephony networks. It is designed to manage a variety of components – from physical hardware to server applications to end-user response time. It provides the critical foundation needed to safely adopt and leverage next-generation technologies, such as VMware ESX Server, Microsoft SharePoint and Exchange Server 2007, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Oracle Grid Computing, and Cisco or Nortel IP Telephony (VoIP) solutions. The NetIQ solution forms part of the Gen-i Management Portfolio, which not only encompasses IP Telephony Management but also Server Monitoring/Management, virtualisation, database, Response Time Monitoring, Security Information and Event Management, and OCS Management within the Gen-i Management Platform.
