Telstra says it has upgraded its 100th telephone exchange in Tasmania, in Richmond, to ADSL2+, extending ADSL2+ coverage to 88 percent of Tasmanian homes and businesses.

Telstra has also announced plans to open a T [life] store in Hobart, a move that it says will create 25 new jobs in the state.

Beyond the reach of ADSL2+, Telstra offers ADSL from 134 exchanges, making ADSL available to a, claimed, 92 percent of the population. Beyond this Telstra says that its Next G network provides wireless broadband services to 97 percent of Tasmanians and 55 percent of the land mass.

Telstra's new T[life] will be located in the Elizabeth Street Mall in Hobart and will open in November.
