Google declares the alien saga over E-mail

Early this afternoon, Melbourne time, Google said in their blog that the celebration of H. G. Wells' birthday was the sole reason for the alien Google Doodles.

In a blog posting from around 2:40pm Eastern Australian time, and in an accompanying tweet, Google has announced that, indeed, the birthday of H. G. Wells was the sole and entire inspiration for the recent sequence of three 'alien' Google Doodles.

From Micheal Lopez, Web Design Lead in the blog, "Inspiration for innovation in technology and design can come from lots of places; we wanted to celebrate H.G. Wells as an author who encouraged fantastical thinking about what is possible, on this planet and beyond. And maybe have some fun while we were doing it.

"The invasion of the logo by alien crafts and pods makes our series complete, but you'll have to read the book to find out how Wells' story really ends."

Lopez is of course referring to H. G. Wells' famous book "War of the Worlds."

Thanks, Google for an interesting jaunt.
