The local subsidiary of consulting and outsourcing giant Capgemini is set to acquire Australia's leading software testing company.

Capgemini Australia has announced an in-principle agreement to acquire Nu Solutions, a software testing business with customers in the financial services, government, telecommunications and retail sectors.

The 75 testing consultants at Nu Solutions' Sydney and Melbourne offices will become Capgemini Testing Services.

The two companies have been collaborating in recent years.

"With more than 7000 testing specialists across the globe, Capgemini has the largest software testing practice in the world. The opportunity to rapidly replicate Capgemini's global software testing leadership with on-the-ground expertise in Australia was simply too good to resist," said Salil Parekh, a member of the Capgemini Group executive committee in charge of financial services, India and Asia Pacific.

Following the acquisition, Capgemini will have 500 staff in Australia, with another 250 overseas staff (including some in India) supporting its Australian operations.

The value of the transaction and expected completion date were not disclosed.
