BenQ Australia has announced dozens of new products. The company's regional president spoke to iTWire about the new range and BenQ's plans.

BenQ Australia has launched more than 40 new items, including LED monitors, video projectors, netbooks and notebooks - far too many to list individually here.

Adrian Chang, president, Asia Pacific at BenQ, told iTWire that the company is "about three months ahead of the competition" in introducing full HD across a wide range of displays, largely because AU Optoelectronics (one of the largest manufacturers of LCD panels) is part of the BenQ group.

"We are providing a full range [of displays]," he said. Models begin at 15.6in - currently popular in India and Indonesia, although larger sizes are gaining traction in those markets - and range up to the 27in screen just introduced to Australia.

In developed markets, 21.5in and larger screens dominate sales. In Australia, 70% of BenQ's sales are in the 21.5 to 23in range, with 23in models taking another 10%.

A new range of ultra-slim monitors will arrive in Australia in January 2010.

Chang believes demand for larger computer screens is largely driven by their increasing use for watching movies and TV shows. He suggests the days of the traditional stand-alone TV could be numbered.

BenQ's panels aren't only used in monitors - please read on.
