Here now is firming news that Sony may trump its own device by introducing a PlayStation 3 Slim console equipped with a 250GB hdd of its own. According to Eurogamer Spain , the newly upgraded machine will arrive in October this year, only a mere month after the Slim’s launch. The report states that the new console will be packaged with a copy of EA’s FIFA 10 as an exclusive bundle to the retailer GAME, and will clock in at a €350 price point. So far the PS3 Slim (and most likely the price cut of the device) has been a huge success with GamesIndustry.biz reporting Chart-Track figures indicating a 1000 percent increase in PlayStation 3 sales over the week before. Mind you, the week leading up to a new hardware/price point release ought to be a slow week. Sony has apparently always been planning on selling both a 120GB as well as a 250GB SKU of the PS3 Slim, but one would imagine that despite having the relatively easy HDD swap-out-in process available to PS3 owners, there will be some who rushed out and grabbed a 120GB model who feel a little gypped at this news. |
