AAPT claims first for 'all-night' broadband service E-mail

AAPT is touting a first for the residential broadband market with the launch today of its 12-hour, off-peak, unlimited downloads service which it says is an evolution of its first unlimited download offer released to the Australian market in May this year.

The company has brought out its latest offering – unlimited downloads from 8pm to 8am – which it reckons is perfect for families who find their broadband service “slowed because they’ve exceeded their monthly cap or, worse still, have found themselves paying for additional usage.”

As iTWire pointed out in May when AAPT brought out its first unlimited download offer, that offer was a case of good news and bad news - the good news being that AAPT was offering unlimited ADSL2+ downloads, especially for 'families', but the bad news was that you had to be Count Dracula or a shift worker to take advantage of the ‘off peak’ rate between 2am and 8am.

With this latest, more ‘family-friendly’ offering, AAPT says its unlimited 8-8 Plan is available bundled with a home phone service for just $89.95 per month for which it says you get a number of features including 5GB of downloads per month in peak periods, superfast ADSL2+ broadband with speeds up to 20 Mbps and $50 worth of voice calls with line rental included.

In the so-called “evolution” since the release of the first unlimited offer in May, AAPT says it realised its customers were only using between 3GB and 5GB per month in peak hours, “but really wanted longer unlimited hours to download movies, music and television shows without going over their monthly download cap.”

AAPT’s head of corporate communications, Tahn Shannon, says the company had now tailored a suite of new products to take this into account, and found the “feedback from our customers invaluable to help us refine our offers to provide what people want.”
