Another university is adopting Microsoft's Live@edu email system. Almost 200,000 Curtin University of Technology students and alumni will be moved across to the cloud-based service.

Another Australian university is adopting Microsoft's Live@edu email system. Following a review of email services, Curtin University will begin the rollout of Live@edu to more than 192,000 students and alumni.

"The suite of products included with Live@edu and the integration capabilities such as the calendar and other virtual tools offer our students a great collaborative learning platform that will skill them up with the tools for life beyond university," said CIO Peter Nikoletatos.

The rollout will begin with email and calendaring, Office Live Workspace, and SkyDrive. Once that phase is complete Curtin will investigate the use of additional Live@edu facilities such as Live Messenger, Live Spaves, and FolderShare.

“it’s great to see such an extensive roll out of Live@edu in Australia as another university decides to deploy Live@edu," said Neil Jackson, education director at Microsoft Australia.

"This decision further cements the importance of Live@edu and the need that exists in higher education for improved email and online collaboration tools," he added.
