The service also has some interesting back-end technology behind it, which Sun announced yesterday. Sun Microsystems announced in a press release that Save My Musik has utilised the Sun Startup Essentials program in Australia to launch its offering. Save My Musik has selected a range of Sun solutions including systems, database and operating systems to manage its service, giving users the opportunity to store their entire music collection online, in the cloud. The Sun Startup Essentials program being utilised by Save My Musik is an initiative offering free and heavily discounted Sun products and services to newly established businesses. When designing Australia’s first ever cloud-based music management service, Paul Galland, Managing Director of Save My Musik said he "recognised the need for a robust, efficient and reliable IT infrastructure. The company also needed to balance the requirement to manage its start up costs against future-proofing the online business for an inevitable growth in users." The new service, currently in beta, is available at www.savemymusik.com . Sun Startup Essentials was launched in Australia in 2008, following launches in India and China in 2007 and the US in 2006, and is supporting more than 100 businesses worldwide. |
