Viocorp has set up shop in Melbourne to better service its growing client base in Victoria.

Viocorp has opened a Melbourne office, led by Nick Bolton, formerly the company's head of sales and marketing, and now general manager of Viocorp Melbourne.

The development is the result of continuing growth in Viocorp's Victorian client base. One of the latest additions is Aviva, which recently joined the likes of BUPA, CGU, Film Victoria, the Essendon football club, and WebCentral.

"We've chosen Viocorp and the Viostream platform to manage our audio and video assets across our multiple web destinations. Online video is a huge growth area and enables us to communicate quicker, sharper and more personally with our various audiences, whether they be staff, customers, partners or media," said Aviva's e-commerce manager, Dean Lupton.

"Victoria based clients have been of increasing importance to our business, and with recent wins such as Aviva, our growth into Melbourne is a natural step," said Bolton.

The company is also believed to have recently signed a significant public-sector client.

"Despite the current economic challenges, we're continuing to experience high levels of interest in both Viostream and VioTV, so our new presence will enable us to manage existing accounts better and meet with clients regularly face-to-face. We decided it was important to provide local support," he added.

Experience gained in operating the Melbourne office is expected to assist Viocorp's international expansion, planned for late 2009 or early 2010. The company has already handled overseas projects, including the first live webcast from the Vatican, and webcasting from Microsoft's TechEd 2008 conference in Barcelona.

"The export side is growing year by year," said Bolton. Around 10% of the company's 2008 revenue came from overseas, he said.
