Another issue is the increasingly common use of disk-to-disk backup. If you want to keep more than one set of backup files, you usually need a bigger external drive than the internal unit (or more than one backup drive). Indeed, the size of current drives makes it impractical to do a full backup onto anything other than another hard disk. Hitachi has pushed the envelope by shipping what it claims is the world's first 2T 7200rpm drive. Apart from capacity, the Deskstar 7K2000 provides "ultra-quiet operation", low power consumption and high performance. Hitachi has also revamped its mainstream hard drive family. The Deskstar 7K1000.C range will be available in capacities ranging from 160G to 1T. The 7K2000 and 7K1000.C drives include power saving features such as the Hitachi Voltage Efficiency Regulator. They are halogen free, and are RoHS compliant. |
