The announcement pointed to the increasing overlap between Google's and Apple's business ventures -- specifically, Google's Android phone operating system and upcoming Chrome OS. But the divorce, amicable or otherwise, is not in itself enough to end government scrutiny. The Federal Communications Commission was already looking at the Apple-Google-AT&T nexus as it relates to Apple's decision to reject Google Voice apps for the iPhone. "We have been investigating the Google/Apple interlocking directorates issue for some time and commend them for recognizing that sharing directors raises competitive issues, as Google and Apple increasingly compete with each other," said Bureau of Competition Director Richard Feinstein in an official statement . But, Feinstein continued, "we will continue to investigate remaining interlocking directorates between the companies." |
