Trojans continue to dominate e-threats for the second month in a row, with the infamous Conficker also still prevalent, with threats from the worm – otherwise known as Downadup.Gen - increasing from 3.33 percent in June to 4.15 percent of all infections during July.

In its latest e-threats report for July, BitDefender says five of the 10 worst e-threats on the list for July were trojans, making it the best represented e-threat category for the second successive month. Conficker now sits at number four on BitDefender’s top 10 e-threats list.

According to BitDefender, worm.Autorun.VHG is the newest e-threat on its top 10 list for July, sitting now at number 10, as a worm which exploits the Autorun bug in Windows, which also made the Conficker/Downadup worm famous.

Gaining popularity in the ninth position is Exploit.PDF-JS.Gen, an exploit that BitDefender says uses vulnerability in the way some versions of the Adobe PDF Reader parse embedded javascript.

Trojan.JS.PYV comes in at number eight on BitDefender’s top 10 e-threats for July at 1.91 percent of total infections.

Also exploiting the Autorun vulnerability in Windows, at seventh position on the top-10 list, is Trojan.Autorun.AET, and an old SWF, Exploit.SWF.Gen, is still in heavy use in the wild, now sitting at sixth place.
