The initial BlackArmor NAS products provide four storage bays. First off the rank in August will be the $A1399 420, which will be shipped with two drives giving a total of 2T. Launch date for its bigger sibling has yet to be set, but the 440 will be fitted with four drives in 4T ($A1899) or 6T (2599) configurations. Total capacity can be expanded to 8T. The BlackArmor NAS units provide an easy to install and manage storage system, Seagate officials claim. Features include file or volume encryption, user-replacable drives, four USB ports for backup to external drives, and the ability to provide remote access to selected files and folders. |
