The phenomenon that is Twilight was an inevitability to be brought to the video game world.  Soon teenage girls everywhere can meet online and stare wistfully into the eyes of a vampire.

The Stephenie Meyer penned series of modern teenage vampire tales has definitely captured a lucrative market world-wide.

And if there is one term that grabs the attention of game developers, it is ‘lucrative market world-wide’.  Hence it was a sure bet that somebody somewhere would seek to tap into this fiction.

Arise oh Twilight based Massive Multiplayer Online Game

Not a great deal of information about this project thus far.  The main description on the web sight though would indeed be enticing to fans of the series, the game promises to “..allow players to immerse themselves into a deeper form of storytelling and adventure, gaining a deeper understanding of The Twilight Saga through your explorations and discoveries.”  Sounds,, um... Deep!

Currently the development team seemingly consists of two individuals, employing the game building technology of the Esenthel Engine – which to date does not boast much in the way of big name game involvement.

Other hints to game-play include “Decorate either the Cullen’ [sic] or Charlie’s house with collectables earned or found within the game such as: musical jewelry [sic] boxes, clothes, portraits, posters, journal, and other unlockables.”

Somehow, if this project does indeed emerge into sunlight, I imagine bloodthirsty vampiric action fans may indeed shun the game like a clove of garlic.  Though the creators do promise multiplayer play in the form of human (why?), vampire or werewolf, so maybe there is hope after all

But hope remains only if Stephanie Meyer’s lawyers don’t drive a stake through the projects heart before it awakens.

There will undoubtedly be a Twilight based game emerge from a crypt somewhere, I just doubt it will be from this dark corner,
