Citrix officials describe the program as "a lightweight universal software client that makes accessing applications and IT services on any device as easy as turning on a TV." By widening the range of supported hardware, the company aims to make Receiver "a ubiquitous software client for accessing corporate applications and data" - much as Flash has become for multimedia content. Interest in Android as an operating system for mobile devices larger than mobile phones suggests Citrix's announcement is well timed. A technology preview of Receiver for Android is expected before the end of the year. |
