The 1.09kg Mini 110 will be sold in Australia in two versions, but initially it's a case of "any colour you like as long as it is black." The Linux based model comes with a 16G solid state drive in place of a hard disk, and sells for $499. The alternative is Windows XP and a 160G hard disk for $699. By the end of the month the Windows edition will also be available in 'pink chic' and 'white swirl' as well as the original 'black swirl' finish. Other specifications include a 10.1 in display, a '92 percent' keyboard, an Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU, webcam, microphone, three USB ports and a VGA port. The options are a six-cell battery is said to give up to six hours use per charge, and an HD video accelerator. In related news, HP announced the arrival of the Pavilion dv2 entertainment notebook with a choice of AMD Athlon and Turion CPUs, 12.in widescreen display. Prices start at $A999. "The new HP Mini 110 and HP Pavilion dv2 reflect HP's commitment to offering choice and creating highly mobile and capable devices to suit the demands of today's market, said Ben Baumgarten, market development manager for consumer notebooks, HP Australia. "These new notebooks add to HP's expanding range of mobile notebook PCs, allowing people to perform daily computing tasks on-the-go." The company also announced that all of its consumer desktop models are now finished in gloss black. |
