iPod Touch, nano to get video cameras? E-mail

Based on Asian manufacturer orders and leaked iPod case designs, rumors have it that Apple might add iPhone-style video capabilities to the iPod Touch.

The latest iteration of the iPhone, the 3GS, added video capabilities to the device's camera, as well as onboard video editing and uploading features.

Now, according to tech blog TechCrunch , the same capabilities may be coming to the iPod Touch, which has the same OS as the iPhone.

TechCrunch cites "sources in Asia" as saying that Apple has ordered a huge number of camera modules--far more than it could expect to sell in iPhones.

In fact, the order is so large that some are speculating that cameras might be added to lower-end iPods as well.

Both rumors are lent support by images of iPod cases found by MacRumors.com .

The site shows a case advertised by Uxsight as being for the iPod Touch, featuring "a hole for a camera on the back."

There's also an iPod nano case shown from DealExreme with a hole in the back in a place the current nano doesn't have any controls.

The case would fit the camera-equipped nano described by iLounge.com back in May.
