My thoughts on the GPL: (the use of the word thoughts is rather loose for one who does not seem to exercise his grey cells, but I'll let that pass)

“Freedom or Death” is not freedom. Wikipedia defines freedom as “Freedom is the right to act according to ones will without being held up by the power of others.” How am I even remotely free if I *have* to license all my code under GPL if I use GPLed libraries? Isn’t the right for a person to release liberal or proprietary software come under his/her freedom too as long as it’s not harming anyone?

Funny, the man who led India to freedom had that exact reasoning - freedom or death. Heard of him, bloke by the name of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi? Ah, but maybe you have no time for the likes of that bald, bespectacled nutcase. You have weightier matters on your mind, dear Sanjeev, haven't you?

I want the freedom to use the BSD or MIT license in my projects. I’m preventing from even referencing GPL libraries (not LGPL) while I’m trying to make open source software available. How is this fair?

Is someone physically restraining you from using these licences? No. Your logic, that you should be allowed to use any code from any system under any other licence, stinks. Why don't you ask your employer whether you can use some of their code, just because you want to do so? If you adopt one licence, you have to live by its terms.

People need proprietary software for their livelihood. Yes dual licensing or selling GPLed code is possible - but maybe not completely feasible. A developer hoping to make a living from small games cannot use GPLed libraries because that would violate the law.

Many people have done exactly what you say they can't do. You need to get out a bit more and read a little bit; in short, get an education.

If Richard Stallman had to make a living from writing software rather than whatever he does, I’m curious how much of his code he’d really open-source.

This shows the extent of your ignorance. Look up what Stallman has done in terms of programming. You can't even begin to touch his feet with your pathetic efforts.

I believe that projects can open source re-usable components (google => protocol buffers, facebook => thrift, microsoft => asp.net/mvc).

Go ahead and believe what you want. Don't try to impose your beliefs on others.

I will never shun anything because it’s proprietary licensing.

Once ahead, go right ahead. The GPL, which you rant against, believes in giving the same freedom to others as well. You, obviously, don't.

While I prefer open source projects like everyone because you can take a look at the inner working, there are only nine projects who’s sources I have truly looked into with good depth.

That's your problem. Is there some kind of way of looking "with bad depth" as well?

My idea of freedom includes the freedom to make it proprietary. It’s your code, you can do what you want with it. I prefer releasing under MIT/X11 license and that’s my choice.

Of course. And it is other people's choice as to what licence they want.

While the GPL is all about choice, it doesn’t give me any real choice. I *have* no choice

The GPL gives all of us plenty of choice. It's done so for a decade in my case. You don't understand the meaning of the word choice - but then your comprehension of the English language is woeful.

Ironically, mono is largely GPL/LGPL as well.

Change the licence. Lead a breakaway group and rewrite the whole damn thing.

Sanjeev thought he could cover his tracks, but the internet is rather unforgiving of naive pups who still believe that it offers anonymity.

A word of advice, little boy - if you piss into the wind it will blow back in your face. That's something which must be slowly sinking in now. If you sow the wind, you'll end up reaping the whirlwind. Enjoy.
