Apple closed the first half of 2009 with a pair of updates, one for iPhoto 09 and the other for the MacBook Air.

According to Apple's description, the iPhoto 8.0.4 Update "addresses a rarely encountered issue involving photos imported into a previous version that could affect overall stability, and corrects references to a few points of interest and location names that were labelled incorrectly."

A separate note issued by Apple says that updating to iPhoto 8.0.3, released around a month ago, could result in the program quitting unexpectedly after being opened.

The 8.0.3 update has been withdrawn, which may explain why the relatively large size of the 8.0.4 updater (over 100M) for what is otherwise a minor update.

The MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2 is specifically to provide compatibility with the latest service replacement batteries supplied by Apple.

Unlike most updates, SMC Firmware Updates are not installed directly by Software Update or by running a downloaded installer. Instead, those processes install an installer that must be run to actually update the firmware.

That normally happens automatically, but it's worth reading About the SMC Firmware Updates if you haven't previously installed such an update.
