Australian logistics and warehousing group, Star Track Express, has selected a mobile data capture platform from supply chain vendor, Intermec, to meet the company’s increasing customer demands for online tracking of collections and deliveries.

Star Track Express says it will deploy the Intermec CN3 platform to manage collections and deliveries for over 1,500 drivers in the field, handling over a million scans a day.

The transport and logistic group’s  director of IT, Max Robson, says that as the company’s business continues to grow, “it is important that we are able to meet the increasing demands of our customers to track their collections and deliveries online.”
“Whilst we already have an excellent service record, our commitment to continuous improvement necessitated that we replace the remaining manual, handwritten elements of our operating procedures with a fully integrated mobility solution. At the same time, the new solution will enhance our customer experience and enable us to improve our existing business processes and increase our levels of productivity and efficiency.”

According to Robson, Star Track Express was looking for a supplier that could demonstrate a proven, robust and scalable technology and one who could deliver a future-proof platform able to be enhanced in order to grow with the company’s business.

Robson also says that Intermec’s CN3 device, coupled with SOTI software, will allow Star Track Express to automate its entire delivery and collection process in real-time by enabling its drivers to scan all items both within and outside the depot, electronically manifest consignments, collect proof of delivery via ‘sign on glass’ and to accept and complete pick up jobs in the field.

“Blackbay software will allow the transfer of this information from the CN3 device directly to the Star Track Express back office systems, providing instant visibility on drivers and their consignments. Leopard Systems were chosen for their expertise and knowledge in the deployment of such a large scale project.”
