Pronto Software, an Australian developer of enterprise software solutions, has appointed Chad Gates as Research & Development Manager to spearhead the strategic development of Pronto Software’s flagship enterprise solution, PRONTO-Xi.

Assuming leadership of Pronto Software’s R&D team based in the company’s Development Centre in Melbourne, Gates will be responsible for driving product innovation and overseeing the entire product lifecycle encompassing application and infrastructure development, maintenance, and quality control.

“Pronto Software has always maintained a strong focus on providing practical innovation, which includes anticipating and responding to changing customer needs,” said Gates.

“Customers are dealing with ever increasing volumes of data. Our Enterprise Intelligence suite, included in our latest (Phase 6) version, is prime example of the practical innovation we’ve built into the product to help customers manage data in a pragmatic way.”

“Software is becoming simpler and more personalised,” said Gates. “A key objective of mine is to look at ways to re-engineer our solution to empower customers so they can use the technology the way they want, when they want, to support their business requirements.

“My goal is to set new standards for ease of use, integration, and greater operability with web, mobile and external systems – which is a growing customer requirement,” Gates said.

Gates said another key focus is to evolve the capabilities within PRONTO-Xi to support the company’s continued push into international markets.

“Many of our customers have international requirements through their overseas subsidiaries and business partnerships. We’re building a range of tools to enhance our multiple language benefits as well as greater reporting capabilities to ensure our customers meet an increasing array of compliance and regulatory requirements,” Gates said.

Commenting on Gates’ appointment, Pronto Software Managing Director David Jackman said, “Chad brings a combination of deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of business requirements. We know he’ll bring a really customer-centric focus to the strategic development of PRONTO-Xi.

“We’re a proudly owned and operated Australian software company, and R&D is the lifeblood of our business. Our solution is built from the ground up, we invest 20 per cent of annual revenue back into development and we’re committed to keeping our development team on Australian shores,” Jackman said.

Gates has over 20 years experience in the retail industry. Prior to joining Pronto in 2005, Gates held senior technology and policy positions at the Australian Retailers Association and is recognised as one of the Industry’s foremost authorities on retail technology. Most recently he was Pronto Software’s Retail Product Manager.
