Sony is ready to launch its music video jukebox download service, VidZone for the PlayStation 3.

So you live in Australia and find staying up to watch Rage or other music video shows a bit of a drag, furthermore you find trawling the likes of YouTube tiresome.

Sony tonight launches VidZone across the PlayStation Network , featuring 10,000 music videos for on-demand download via the PS3.

According to Sony” “A first glance at a sample VidZone playlist reveals videos from artists including Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Fatboy Slim, Black Eyed Peas, Glasvegas, Dizzee Rascal, P!nk, Noisettes, Ne-Yo, Armand van Helden, Tori Amos and Akon, among others – but that’s just a few. With 10,000 videos on there and more to come, you’ll find what you’re into.”

So here’s hoping “among others” features some good artists, but that is a subjective comment, each to their own when it comes to musical tastes.  VidZone is promising artists from both independent as well as major music labels from around the world.

Sony also mention that VidZone is completely free and extremely easy to use. Just download the free VidZone application from PlayStation Store, find it under the ‘music’ icon on your PS3’s XrossMediaBar menu and you’re away. You don’t have to watch somebody else’s choice of music – you’re in complete control here. Select single videos to watch on their own – with the option of rewinding and fast-forwarding – or create your own library of streaming music and make custom playlists for every occasion. Whether you want a playlist for a living-room workout or a house party – or whether you just want to check out your favourite musician’s dance moves or guitar fretwork – VidZone gives you all the options and puts you in complete control. You can even create a playlist via PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) and have it waiting for you on PS3 when you get home.

What would be real nice, is if you could use VidZone to select the background music selection to any game you play on the PS3, maybe that will be a feature to come.
