On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, NASA gave the official “thumb’s up” for the launch of space shuttle Endeavour and its STS-127 crew to the International Space Station. It’s another assembly mission as NASA steadily makes progress for the completion of the Station.

Members of the Fight Readiness Review (FRR) meeting discuss all aspects of the Space Transportation System (STS) flight that might prevent it from launching, assessing risks to all equipment, flight procedures, and flight and support systems, and eventually give a go or no-go for the shuttle.

The FRR consists of NASA and contractor personnel.

In the NASA article NASA gives ‘go’ for June 13 launch of space shuttle Endeavour, ”NASA managers completed a review Wednesday of space shuttle Endeavour's readiness for flight and selected June 13 as the official launch date for the STS-127 mission to the International Space Station.”

The STS-127 crew consists of commander Mark Polansky, pilot Doug Hurley and mission specialists and NASA astronauts Dave Wolf, Christopher Cassidy, Tom Marshburn, and Tim Kopra; and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Julie Payette.

Kopra will become one of the ISS Expedition 20 crewmembers, replacing Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata.

Expedition 20 is the first six-person crew on the Station. Wakata will return to Earth on Endeavour to conclude a three-month stint at the station.

Page two continues with the scheduled time of liftoff.
