ECM vendor, Open Text, has its sights set on expansion into the China market as it focuses on boosting its presence in the Asia Pacific region on the back of growing demand for, and adoption, of its suite of ECM solutions.

Despite the economic downturn, Open Text claims it has continued to grow its regional infrastructure, channel partnerships and customer base, with general manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, Graham Pullen, saying that solid results have been achieved over the past year “as market demand for ECM grows in line with the need to do more with less.”

Open Text’s has reported that third quarter financial results, ending 31 March, 2009, showing the company’s global revenues  up 7% quarter on quarter from 2008.

According to Pullen, “not only are more companies seeking out content management solutions, but our existing customers are now looking to expand their ECM portfolios to achieve compliance and quite simply manage greater portfolios of responsibility with fewer resources.”

Pullen says Open Text’s regional sales and support operation has doubled since this time last year and last month the company appointed StoneBridge Systems as a new partner in Australia and New Zealand.

“All our partners have been hand-picked by Open Text for their market proven ability to provide greater customer reach and support across the region as well as local expertise and a strong existing customer base.”

Pullen says part of Open Text’s growth includes planned expansion into markets such as China (Shanghai) to complement the company’s already strong existing presence in Australia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong.
