It’s a colloquialism for jail or prison, solitary confinement, or a meaningless swear word. Does this mean that even if Microsoft has another Live search promotion where money is paid, you’ll have to go straight to Bing, and not collect your $200? Perhaps it means you’ll have to jailbreak Bing to make it work properly – we’ll need to get the Bing Dev Team onto that pronto. Bing could, on the other hand, become so popular that we start calling it “Bing Brother”. Another definition over at the Urban Dictionary Bing page is: ___ “Bing - Someone who blatantly attempts to hide a lack of understanding in a skilled discipline (particularly in computing), using arrogance and the humiliation of others as key methods.” Used to describe a blagger "He's a bit of a Bing" "That Bing will never get that through QA" ___ If Bing is another Cuil, it could well become regarded as the Osama Bing Laden of search. Ok, ok, that one was really bad… but hey, Bada Bing, Bada Boom! So, finally. According to TechCrunch, and quoted by PC World, the supposed favicon for the Bing search engine immediately had me wondering. What did that British Paints logo look like again? Here they are, with a couple more comments below the pics:  Bing Favicon  British Paints Logo Once I thought of that, I wondered if anyone else had already thought the same thing - on Google, of course. And wouldn't you know it, someone called "Gizza" in a Digg story on an AdAge article on Bing and Google commented a couple of days ago noting: "With a favicon that looks somewhat like the British Paints logo"... Bing. It really had better go off with a bang!! |
