Nintendo has claimed another sales crown with the news that over two million Australians have their grubby mitts on some iteration of the DS hand-held.Featured Whitepaper
5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
Taking just 221 weeks to sell 2 million units of DS hardware, be it in the form of Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite or Nintendo DSi, the hand-held has claimed the title of fastest selling game console in Australia to reach that mark. In Australia, the newly released Nintendo DSi is being pitched to an older demographic, with advertising featuring adults attempting to utilise the device to improve their brain power with brain training titles, getting handy recipe hints or other similar non-kiddie information from their device. Whist the DSi sports more powerful hardware, includes a couple of camera’s and has a larger screen, it also retails for around AU$100 more than the older DS model, the Nintendo DS lite, which is still available for sale. The next step for Nintendo is to cash in – even more - on the DS popularity. Anecdotally, the DS is the must have gadget for a number of human generations, if Nintendo can extend the f feature reach, by expanding the already impressive connectivity options the DS has to include more integration with the Nintendo Wii, then two million (in a relatively small populace marketplace) will seem like chicken feed. |
