These include Byron Bay in the NSW (Northern Rivers region and Victoria's South West Gippsland region. The rollout will commence prior to Christmas in a move Chariot's managing director, Robert Horlin-Smith, said would add up to $1 million to the company's 2005-2006 revenue. "Under our existing national ISP network, we have a minimum of 5,000 dial-up customers from the two regions already and it will need little incentive for a considerable number of these to upgrade to a high-speed wireless broadband connection," Horlin-Smith said. The company also estimates that 60,000 customers in regional areas stretching from Cairns down to Wollongong across through to Victoria and South Australia are unable to access DSL. And says it's new wireless product will address this. Omninet uses Motorola's Canopy 'WiMAX' technology. |
