Microsoft and Netflix already provide Xbox 360 owners with access to more than 12,00 movies and TV episodes, and this arrangement has been extended to the Media Center feature of Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate.

US Netflix subscribers on a plan that includes Watch Instantly can now watch Netflix content within Windows Media Center.

The content appears in the new Netflix tile under TV+Movies, and uses the Netflix category lists.

In addition to playing Watch Instantly content, the feature supports searching the entire Netflix library and managing instant and DVD queues.

According to some reports, Netflix content cannot be viewed using a Windows Media Extender.

"We're continuing to work with the top content providers today to make watching TV on the PC a mainstream experience for the future, said Craig Eisler, corporate vice president of entertainment client software for Microsoft's TV, video and music business group.

"Netflix is excited that the majority of the Windows Vista users in the US can now access a vast array of movies and TV episodes from Netflix through Windows Media Center," said Steve Swasey, vice president of corporate communications at Netflix.
