Australian Central Credit Union has awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar managed services contract to IT and telecommunications service provider, PKBA.

Adelaide-based Australian Central says PKBA has successfully completed the audit and transition phase of the managed services agreement, with all outcomes from that phase achieved, and a number of positive improvements already delivered.

Australian Central’s senior manager technology services, David Hombsch, says the contract will substantially improve the organisation’s service delivery capacity to its 185,000 members and clients in over 30 branches in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Hombsch says the contract runs for several years, with an option for further extension.

“PKBA has been working with the Australian Central team and demonstrating its ability to deliver project-based quality services for the past 18 months. PKBA has been awarded the Wintel managed services contract and we see this as a step towards strengthening this partnership.”

PKBA CEO, Mark Stead, says the Australian Central contract is a key win for PKBA, tying in multiple PKBA business lines and leveraging the company’s national IT and telecommunications footprint.’

Stead says the contract covers the provision of support for in excess of 700 PCs and laptops, a mix of business applications, dozens of application servers and the data communications network linking Australian Central’s sites.

“PKBA will provide an on-site team for Australian Central to deliver a full range of ‘business as usual’ services, including extended hours of support for key branches and after hours support for critical systems.”

Stead claims that the Australian Central contract reinforces the growth that PKBA is seeing in managed services, with recent wins such as Blundstone in Tasmania, Magellan Petroleum in Queensland, and Slade Pharmaceuticals in Victoria.
