The Federal government is tapping into the expertise of selected community organisations to help ensure particular groups aren't left behind in the digital TV switchover.

Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, announced today the formation of the Consumer Export Group as part of the government's measures to inform the public about the switchover from analogue to digital TV.

The group comprises representatives from:

Association of Seniors Computer Clubs of Australia

St Vincent de Paul

Salvation Army

Indigenous Consumers Assistance Network

Vision Australia

Country Women's Association

Lions Australia

Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia

Meals on Wheels

National Disability Services

and

CHOICE

"Working with this group will ensure the Government receives advice on the requirements of ‘special needs’ groups and the most effective ways to target switchover information throughout the community," said Conroy.

"International experience highlights the importance of community engagement to develop and target digital switchover information," he added.
