Networking infrastructure provider 3Com is looking to grow its business in Queensland with the appointment of a new manager to drive business in the State.

Grant Howe, 3Com country manager for Australia and New Zealand, today announced the appointment of Angela Hughes to the position of Queensland state manager, responsible for heading up all state operations as well as managing a growing team of eight staff in the company’s Brisbane branch.

Howe says Hughes will focus on identifying and responding to new opportunities in Queensland whilst maintaining the position of account director for one of 3Com’s largest accounts – the Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA). He said Hughes’ extensive 20 years of experience in the Queensland IT market would be a major asset to the company.

“The addition of Angela to our Queensland management team will accelerate our strategy of bringing our current customers more value for their networking investment. She also brings the expertise to help us significantly grow our customer base in Australia.”

Prior to joining 3Com, Hughes worked for two years with Dimension Data, assisting in Queensland’s ‘whole of government’ strategy, and was previously general manager for Internet services at the University of Queensland and state manager for AAPT in Queensland.
