But there are indications that 10.5.7 should be here in the near future. Last week, Apple customers began receiving Apple's ATI Radeon 4870 video card for the 2008 Mac Pro. While 2009 Mac Pros shipped with this card include the necessary drivers, the upgrade card does not come with software. Instead, Apple is telling customers that they will need to wait for 10.5.7. Given that delivery of the the 4870 card has been held up for months - thought to be due to the unavailability of software - it seems unlikely that Apple would ship the cards very far in advance of the OS update. Changes in the latest developer release relate to compatibility issues between the networking software and iChat and Safari. The only known issue is still that the Safari 4 beta only installs on 10.5.6. |
