myKP does deal with Telstra for ADSL2+ E-mail

Remember myKP and its offer of “no download caps” back in January, followed by a trial of its service? Now myKP is back in the news announcing that, following the trial, its ADSL2+ network is being powered by Telstra.

Little known ISP myKP burst onto the Australian ISP scene back in mid January, promising the launch of a “no download caps” broadband trial that was set to start on January 26.

As you’d expect, the announcement was discussed by Whirlpool forum members, with myKP founder George Kaloudis initially and enthusiastically answering questions.

After a couple of days Kaloudis stopped answering questions, but in the Whirlpool thread linked to above, plenty of unanswered questions remain, including questions on why myKP is not yet registered with the TIO (Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman), something required by Australian law for ISPs.

Checking the TIO “Search members” page has no listing for myKP, so unless an application has been lodged and not yet processed, it is curious that Telstra Wholesale is prepared to supply ADSL2+ services to an ISP not registered with the TIO.

Complaints at Whirlpool noted the “lack of professionalism” in Kaloudis’ responses, and the seeming lack of professionalism of the myKP website

In a press release issued today, myKP has now announced that it has “chosen Telstra as its exclusive ADSL2+ partner and has started the processes of full integration between Telstra and the myKP Hero Platform.”

myKP founder and “Director of Stuff”, George Kaloudis said in the release that: “The outcome of our trial to date is fantastic and we are ironing out the glitches. Part of the trial was aimed at picking a vendor partner and Telstra won that hands down.”

As part of the agreement myKP says it will “have access to over 1400 Telstra ADSL2+ enabled exchanges and will deliver its services to all exchanges.”
