It's also not known which model the president chose. But the real gift is the content already on the iPod. It is said to include photos and video from the queen's 2007 visit to the U.S., including her trip to Jamestown, Virginia, the site of the first permanent English settlement in America. The iPod also contains audio of then-state senator Obama's speech to the 2004 Democratic Convention and of his presidential inauguration address. More likely to get airplay, probably, are the 40 songs from Broadway musicals also on the device, including "Maria" and "Tonight" from West Side Story, "Cabaret," and "Aquarius" from Hair. President Obama also presented the queen with a rare book of sheet music by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. The queen gave the president a signed, silver-framed photo of herself and her husband, Prince Philip -- reportedly the standard gift to Buckingham Palace visitors. |
