NetComm has launched the SIP-compliant V85 desktop IP telephone "designed specifically to meet the needs of the growing IP PABX market," for less than $200.

According to Netcomm managing director, David Stewart, it "represents a new level of sophistication for NetComm's growing VoIP product range...It can be deployed in large numbers as a business workstation phone, offering a cost-effective alternative to other IP phones on the market."

It includes: a full duplex hands free speaker phone with echo cancellation; 10-number speed dial; 50-number phone book; call transfer/mute; separate volume controls for microphone and speaker; dedicated PC port that can connect both the phone and the computer to the network using only one network connection; support for call handling features such as call waiting, call hold, call forward and call transfer to an external phone.

It is available from computer resellers for $199 (including GST).
