Technology entrepreneur Marty Gauvin has left Hostworks, the Australian company he founded 10 years ago, after successfully overseeing its acquisition by Broadcast Australia early last year.

Gauvin, who finished up with his IT management and hosting company a few days ago, says he’s now on the lookout for new business opportunities and, meanwhile, intends to maintain his work with a number of non-profit organisations and fulfil public speaking engagements.

Gauvin says the move on from Hostworks is a logical progression in his professional development and he’s confident he has left Hostworks in good hands.

“I’m proud of the work that has gone into making Hostworks the company that it is today, and I thank all the folk who have made that journey with me since our humble beginnings in Rundle Street.”

Gauvin says Hostworks specialises in managing critical online applications for major businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The company was founded in 1999 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2001. It was acquired by Broadcast Australia in early 2008, becoming part of the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group.

During the past eight years. Gauvin has been involved in a range of Commonwealth Government innovation programs, including membership of the Venture Capital and COMET committees of Innovation Australia, and was also a member of the collaboration working group that contributed to the review of the National Innovation System. . He also sat on committees for AusIndustry innovation programs including Commercial Ready and the Industry Cooperative Innovation Program (ICIP).

He is also involved with the Inspire Foundation, a not-for-profit service provider that delivers innovative online programs to prevent youth suicide and improve young people's mental health and wellbeing.
