Wholesale broadband provider, Nextep, is to accelerate its network services with an upgrade of its routing infrastructure by Juniper.

NEC-owned Nextep, will deploy Juniper Networks M and MX Series Routers to scale its core network, which it says will enable the rapid deployment of advanced voice, video and data offerings while “improving the performance and efficiency of its existing high-performance broadband services.”

Nextep will also use the Juniper Networks SA4500 SSL VPN Appliance to provide secure remote access with best-in-class endpoint security capabilities. This ensures only devices that meet corporate security policies are granted access.

According to Nextep Broadband general manager, Duncan Wallace, upgrading Nextep’s infrastructure with Juniper platforms will “ensure our customers benefit from innovative technology, raising QoS, reliability and performance, while enhancing the responsiveness of hosted applications and services.

“The Juniper solution provides unmatched choice and flexibility, ensuring our network can adapt to changing market requirements, while lowering total cost of ownership through the proven, consistent JUNOS Software.”

Juniper’s Alex Krawchuk, director of service providers in Australia, said the company’s M Series Multiservice Edge Routers were deployed in the world’s largest networks, and had minimised the total cost of ownership for high-performance service providers and enterprises deploying them.

According to Krawchuk, the Juniper MX Series offers advanced MPLS, Multicast, QoS, low latency and security capabilities, and provides “unmatched flexibility and reliability” to support advanced applications and services, including high-speed transport and VPN services, next-generation broadband multiplay services and high-volume Internet data center internetworking.

Krawchuk said that for service providers like Nextep, Juniper’s SA, M and MX Series provide high-capacity platforms in efficient form factors, for the ability to quickly and cost-effectively accelerate delivery of high-performance services to customers.
