Myspace is offering domain names under .tel, the new 'communications focused' top level domain for  its members.

In partnerships with several ICANN accredited registrars, MySpace will be offering .tel domains to its community for $US19.99 per year starting on March 25th..tel domain names are designed to act as a one-stop shop at which organisations and individuals can specify all the different means by which they can be contacted.

According to Telnic, the originator and registry operator for .tel, "MySpace's 130 million active users, with over 20 million unique monthly users accessing the community via mobile devices, will now be able to take advantage of the .tel to better promote their MySpace page in organic search results from any device. At the same time, users can use the .tel domain to securely share their more private contact information with non-MySpace users who wish to contact them."

Telnic has also introduced a free iPhone application, available from the iPhone app store, which it claims "means that, for the first time ever, anyone can edit and publish information on the Web under their own domain without needing web design skills or software or even a PC.
