Research in Motion (RIM) is supporting global Earth Hour on Saturday, 28 March with the launch of a dedicated mobile site for users of its BlackBerry smartphones.

RIM says it has collaborated with Earth Hour to launch the dedicated site and it urges its BlackBerry users to switch off their lights between 8.30-9.30pm.

“This year’s Earth Hour has been positioned as the ‘world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming’, and switching off your lights on Earth Hour will be a vote for Earth while leaving them on will be a vote for global warming,” according to RIM.

And, if you go to Earth Hour’s own site, you’ll get a list of tips and suggestions for what you can personally do to support the global campaign, including downloading a guide for how to run Earth Hour in your own city or town-  Run your own Earth Hour .

“This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming, and for the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – switching off your lights is a vote for earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming,” is the battle cry from Earth Hour.
