Third developer build of Mac OS X 10.5.7 released E-mail

Apple's dropping developer builds of Mac OS X 10.5.7 in quick succession. Build 9J30 went to developers late last week.

Apple's clearly hard at work on Mac OS X 10.5.7.  The third developer build appeared barely a week after the second - a pace that some associate with an approaching public release.

According to the seed notes (as published by World of Apple), the latest build includes an updated version of Adobe's Flash Player. No surprise there, as Adobe updated Flash Player late last month to overcome a security flaw.

The problems fixed by 9J30 relate to graphics, iChat, iCal, storage, and "CPU Software and digital output".

Focus areas for testing still include various networking components, synchronisation, parental controls, sound, Time Machine, iCal, and USB and flash drives.

While rapid-fire developer builds are sometimes seen as an indication that a Mac OS X update is nearing completion, some observers suggest that the relatively broad testing focus means there is still work to be done before 10.5.7 is ready for its public debut.
